- You need 4 tbsp of Mustard oil -.
- You need 1/4 tsp of Kalongi -.

- Prepare 3 tbsp of Yellow mustard seeds -.
- Prepare 1 tbsp of Red mustard seeds -.
- It's 1 cup of Coconut milk -.

Heat oil in a non-stick pan and fry the mustard paste and turmeric Add the fish, green chillies and salt to the mixture and then cook on medium heat till the fish is properly cooked and the gravy thickens a bit. Hilsa fish is commonly known as 'Ilish maachh' in Bengal. It is the most popular and costly fish due its aroma and taste. - Marinate the fish pieces with salt and haldi. Keep it aside for 10 min..
- Preparing mustard paste : in mixer we make a fine paste of red mustard seeds, Yellow mustard seed, Salt and 4 - 5 green chillies.
- Heat mustard oil in a Kadai till the oil changes its colour..
- Temper hot oil with kalonji and cook in medium flame till oil comes from the mixture..
- Pour mustard paste, haldi, green chillies and 1/2 cup coconut milk to the mixture and boil it in medium flame..
- Now add fish pieces slowly to the mixture and cook it on low flame for at least 10 min..
- Then add 1 tbsp of raw mustard oil over the gravy and bring it to boil..
- Hilda fish is ready to serve with steamed rice.
